According to WP, this is my 200th post. It seems to call for something special, but I have no clue. Over on DA they’d probably do a kiriban or something for this sort of thing. Of course, 200 makes me think of 1976, and our nation’s Bi-Centennial celebrations. I remember the $2 bill was re-issued, and my grandfather gave me a handful of them, along with some he’d kept that had been issued during WWII. And I distinctly remember, “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry was a pretty popular tune. Oh. My. Word. I just looked up the video for that song, for old time’s sake. Oh I just want to cringe! ROFLMFAO Ah, the good ‘ol Midnight Special! How well I remember Friday nights and Wolfman Jack delivering the latest hits!
200. Does this mean I pass Go? That’s CC in Roman numerals. You know, it seems a lot less exciting now. I’ve only been on the “blogosphere” for just under 2 years, and since I’ve been trying to be more consistent with posting, I’m sure at least half of that 200 has taken place just this calendar year alone. But I’m not a newbie here, really. Back before AOL went “unlimited” I was online, learning about chat rooms and profiles and email. Then when their “unlimited” program hit, EVERYONE was getting online and clogging the modems so bad that it seemed to take days to get online, only to get bumped off again a few minutes later. Ah, the joys of dial-up! Now AOL is a dinosaur and hardly anyone still uses it. It’s almost a joke now. I don’t even see those Free AOL discs in the grocery store anymore.
I guess 200 isn’t that big a deal. It’s just a nice even number.
Even Wikipedia doesn’t have that much on it. I did find this video however, over on YouTube, that pretty much sums it up. The guy does 200 impressions in just over 16 minutes. He’s ok, but I’ve seen better. After all, I practically live in a cartoon!
Thanks for sticking with me this far. I hope you’re around for the next 200!
Just as I was going to post this, I got an email from a friend over on DA. Look what she made for me! They like to use these stamp things there, but since I don’t have a paid account, I can’t use them, so she sent it to me in email. Isn’t she a doll? Thank you Leonie! You are so sweet! (You should see the stamp she made for Darc! It rocks in stereo!)

Happy 200th! I don’t even know where I am on numbers. I guess I’ll go check.

I remember the Summer of ‘76 like it was yesterday.
Mom, Dad, surly older brother and I drove to Cheyenne Wyoming for the Frontier Days rodeo in a teeny little yellow Chevette with faux wood side panels.
We ate at McDonald’s nearly every damn meal. That was the first year they had the rub off cards for Olympic sports. We exploited those free food cards, begging for more scratch offs at every opportunity.
I had been having recurring dreams about a little blonde girl in a red and blue dress all spring. I’d awake from my dreams thinking “She must be the ‘All-American Girl’ you hear so much about.
I saw her standing next to her mother outside a hotel in Denver. Red and blue dress. My heart stopped. I desperately needed to tell someone that I was having a serious paranormal experience but I couldn’t breathe. Then she was in a car and gone.

Dwight — Weird stuff, dude. No wonder you never forgot it.

Sherri – Thanks dolly! Love you!
Dwight – Ah the Chevette. Back then I was usually stuffed into the back of a tangerine Karman Ghia so I can kind of relate. And your serious paranormal experience? I think it’s cool – that’s how I met Darc. It’s too bad you didn’t get a chance to talk to that little girl. Maybe she’d been having dreams about you too.
