Harper’s Ho-Hum

Okay, quick – show of hands – who watched that new show Harper’s Island last night?

Hmm.  That’s what I thought.

See, here’s the thing.  I thought the whole idea was really cool, and for a crime buff like myself, it seemed like it might be a fun interactive “solve the crime” kind of show.  I’m having my doubts, after watching just the 1st episode.

There really weren’t any clues.  I’m trying to keep in mind that the show is supposed to go on until sometime in July.  So far we have 2 victims – one we never even got to meet, and no suspects.  Not even a clue who a suspect might be.  How can I play detective when there aren’t any clues?

Plus, I’m a little disappointed at the “soap-opera-y” feel of the whole thing.  I guess I expected something a bit more – well, better acted for one.  I’m pretty sure had Harry Hamlin really been cut in half he’d have been screaming a lot more and a lot louder.  Just sayin’.  And I’m not sure how to put this – it needs a better film quality?  It felt cheap somehow.  I thought for sure with all the hype that CBS would have gone all out with film quality and actors – like A-list or at the very least, B-list.  So not the case.  (Sorry Harry.  I love ya man but Clash of the Titans was a long time ago.)

I’ll watch again next week, and see how it goes.  I know these things take time – but if the 3rd episode hasn’t gotten any better, I’m so off the Island.

Now, for those who are celebrating, have a blessed Good Friday.
