What am I thankful for today? Back scratchers. Handy dandy things those back scratchers, they’re not just for scratching backs anymore. I picked some up 3 or 4 years ago from a store online, where you can get a dozen back scratchers for cheap. I have them by the desks, by the couch, by the bed, in the car, in the potty, the kids each have their own too. They use them as ant mandibles … okay don’t ask. They also make great hockey sticks, swords, golf clubs, and magic wands. They are handy to get stuff out from behind the couch and the bookcase. Also for getting those pesky alphabet magnets out from under the fridge. And, let’s not forget, they are awesome to smack your husband with when he makes a rude, smart-ass remark – like he’s been faking liking your meatloaf all these years, or he scares the crap out of you in the bathtub.
I kid, I kid. I don’t endorse husband smacking of any kind. Unless, you know, he really deserves it, like Tiger apparently seems to, but that’s for another story.
Without back scratchers I’d be driving myself crazy trying to get those annoying itches that hit me in the back just as I’m falling asleep, or when I’m watching TV, or trying to think of something to blog about. I’ve lived a life without a back scratcher and really, it’s a pain no one needs. My husband doesn’t have long nails to relieve me, and while I do have long nails, sometimes I’m busy and can’t scratch his back when he needs it. This way, we each have our own and can scratch to our heart’s – and back’s – content. How awesome is that? It’s the little things in life that can be so gratifying.
