The Write Stuff

cool accessories - pen nibs - runway

So, how many pens nibs are too many, exactly?

We’re coming up on the end of the proofs for this most recent tech book my husband wrote.  You might remember the deadline he had to finish the thing a couple of months ago.  Recently the proofs have come back to us so we’ve been going over those and making sure everything is like it should be.  Thank goodness this editing team has done a much better job than the team on the last book!  I’ve hardly flagged any corrections to be made, and that’s a beautiful thing.  Smile  It’s almost completely done and then Darc can focus full time on his fiction and that is also a beautiful thing.  Smile

In other news, tomorrow should be the end of an era, of sorts, and I’m hoping to bid a not-so-fond farewell to my old adversary, Back Pain.  Wouldn’t that be awesome if it went away?

I might end up with a newer (to me anyway) stove.  We keep smelling gas – never a good sign.  They came today and tightened a connection, but I could still smell gas after the maintenance guys left.  I’ll see how it is tomorrow, but I think something’s wrong with the thermostat inside the oven itself, and not the connection to the gas supply between the oven and the wall.  We’ve had it for 5 years and I don’t know how long it was used before we moved in.  It’s probably time for a replacement anyway.

So that’s my news.  How’s by you?

Productivity … Sort of

I’ve been trying to be more productive around the house, now that the election’s over.  It’s not been easy, since I’m still rather obsessed over things political.  But I’m trying.  The house has gotten a little cleaner, more laundry has gotten washed AND put away, and I’ve even vacuumed too.  If you knew how much I loathed my vacuum, you’d understand the magnitude of what I’m saying.  I swear, I have horror stories I could tell you about vacuums, but that’s for another post.

Still on my list is sorting and re-organizing the kids toys, again.  Seems I do this every 3 months or so.  And I still have to do my closets.  A daunting task and one I keep putting off.  I have managed to get some patches put on the knees of my son’s pajamas though.  Somehow, the left knee on every single pair of pajamas he has gets a hole in it.  I think he must favor going down on his left side when he does all his Spiderman jumps and rolls.

And today, I made this:

MVC-007F

You’re probably wondering what that is, aren’t you?  It’s a bag collector for all those annoying plastic grocery bags.  For months, I’ve just been putting all the bags into another bag and left that hanging on the closet door.  Tacky!  But who’s going to pay for one of those containers you attach to the door under your kitchen sink?  Not only am I not willing to pay for that, I can’t do that in an apartment.  Management doesn’t like when you do things like that.  So I took one of my dishtowels and a needle and thread and made my own.  :)   I’m pretty pleased with it, if I do say so myself.  Now those stupid, noisy bags are tucked quietly away within a decorative little holder.

So my productivity is going up, finally.  Today, the aggravating plastic bags; tomorrow, the world!
