The Sucking of Chicago

We’re #1! We’re #1! Woo…ait. This is not a good thing. Chicago now has the highest tax rate in the country. I read it here –>>Cook County Board Passes Budget, Doubles Sales Tax while browsing the news the other night. That giant whooshing sound you hear is the sound of Chicago sucking its citizens dry. And the Cook County Board President is proud, proud I tell ya, of this tax increase. He says it’s “right for the county” to have this tax increase. Somehow, I suspect better fiscal management would be more “right for the county” than a tax increase. Yep, Chicago still sucks. Sucks your wallet empty too.

Sound off Chicagoans! What do you think? Speak up, before they start taxing your thoughts too.

Thank you for your blog. I hate Chicago. I’m married to a native Chicagoan who’s parents both come from families of like 120+ people and they all live within 15 minutes of all of their relatives. It’s the most fucked up thing I have ever seen. They talk about Chicago like it is some sort of scenic, cultural mecca that no other city can compare to. Then five minutes later they’re all complaining about how horrible the taxes and crime are, but they just sort of complain and then laugh it off. There is nothing mesmerizing about this city. The weather sucks. The food is mediocre. There really is nothing active to do, unless you like to go to the gym or run on flat sidewalks with a fucking stoplight every block. And if you should decide to leave the city, it’ll take at least an hour to get out of the city and you end up stuck in the middle of god-forsaken Illinois cornfields. Just a desolate, over priced, horrible place. Can’t wait for the Chicago Fire II.
