Happy Halloween!

Sending some Halloween greetings your way, with a special thanks to my friend, Elizabeth, the artist who created these cute Halloween stamps for me.  I hope you have a fun and candy filled day!

Ever had days like that?  Where you feel like “the spoon bends you”?  I feel like that.  I don’t know why, but some days I just don’t feel like me.  I’m not sure exactly who I do feel like, but it isn’t me.  I would like to feel like Angelina Jolie some days.  Other days I’d like to feel like Sarah Palin.  Sometimes I’d like to feel like Melinda Gates.  If I could be all 3 at once, that would be “teh awesome!”  Can you imagine their shoe collections?!

Nothing jumped out at me while reading the news today.  Nothing popped up on my Reader either that you might find interesting.  Lots of political stuff, but like I said, you probably wouldn’t find any of that interesting.  ;)  Oh, the Phillies won the World Series.  You probably knew that though.  Yay!  Baseball’s finally over!

Hopefully when I wake up I’ll feel more like myself.  Life is probably going to get rough for me in the next few months and I’m already gearing up, getting in “scrapper” mode.  That is probably more like myself than I care to admit!  In the meantime, one day at a time, right?  Are you with me?  [Matchbox Twenty – Bent]

Less than a week until the election.  Time is zipping by, it seems.  And taking me with it.  Have you ever had the feeling like someone’s put an evil curse on you and you just can’t break it?  Seems to be the story of our life.  All we can do is endure, right?  So endure I will.  I have no choice.  I have some Irish blood so it’s either endure, or drink myself to death, and since I’m not a huge fan of alcohol, I’m out of options.  Make no mistake though, drunk or sober, we of Irish descent will sing about our hardships at 2 AM.  And not necessarily in key!  We must lament the hand that guides our fate!  Loudly!  Thank goodness for blogging because nobody wants to hear me sing!  Yeah yeah, nobody wants to see me blogging either, I know!  Beat you to the punch on that one!  Ha!

Anyway, endurance.  It’s pretty exhausting.  But we do what we have to, right?  We shoulder on, dust ourselves off, and keep going.  Sometimes we weep along the way but mostly we just put our faces to the wind and press forward.  And we never stop hoping, never stop striving, never stop yearning for home.  We persevere.  Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Virtual Murder

I had laughing fits when I read the story below.  His avatar married her avatar, and then when his avatar divorced her avatar, she killed his avatar.   The part that’s not funny though is that the woman was arrested for hacking.  Now, I ask you, if she got into his account because HE’D given her his password when they were “married,” how in the world is that “hacking”?  And then the guy has the nerve to call police??  Idiot should have just changed his password!  “She killed my avatar!  It’s murder!”  Talk about a waste of police resources!  Not to mention getting a little too carried away with a game!

Well, you know what they say: Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned – and that includes virtual women with virtual fury who’ve been virtually scorned, too.   😉

Online divorcee jailed after killing virtual hubby

By MARI YAMAGUCHI, Associated Press

TOKYO: A 43-year-old Japanese woman whose sudden divorce in a virtual game world made her so angry that she killed her online husband’s digital persona has been arrested on suspicion of hacking, police said Thursday.

The woman, who is jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data, used his identification and password to log onto popular interactive game "Maple Story" to carry out the virtual murder in mid-May, a police official in northern Sapporo said on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.

"I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry," the official quoted her as telling investigators and admitting the allegations.

The woman had not plotted any revenge in the real world, the official said.

She has not yet been formally charged, but if convicted could face a prison term of up to five years or a fine up to $5,000.

Players in "Maple Story" raise and manipulate digital images called "avatars" that represent themselves, while engaging in relationships, social activities and fighting against monsters and other obstacles.

The woman used login information she got from the 33-year-old office worker when their characters were happily married, and killed the character. The man complained to police when he discovered that his beloved online avatar was dead.

Happy Pre-Halloween!

A few weeks ago, we stood next to the costumes and she saw the sparkly princess one that had the twinkly lights.  “Oooh, Mommy, I want that one!”  I breathed a sigh of relief.  She wants a girly costume, yay!  Maybe we’ll be done with wearing big brother’s hand-me-down Spiderman stuff.

Not so.

As we were getting the kids dressed in their costumes on Sunday, the princess saw brother putting on his black Spidey suit, and the fits started that she didn’t want to wear her princess one.  Noooo.  She wanted to wear the hand-me-down red Spidey suit.  Sigh.

You see, Halloween came early to our place.  Our township’s website stated that trick-or-treating would be held on Sunday the 26th, in the afternoon between 1-4.  Living in an apartment and being a homeschool mom, I didn’t know how many other people would know that too, until I got the bright idea of looking up our local schools.  Other kids would probably get a notice, right?  Most folks who have kids live near schools, right?  They’d know when trick-or-treating is, right?  My idea paid off.  :D  I picked a neighborhood near a school close to us, and lo and behold, other kids out trick-or-treating!

The wind was howling as my husband, Spidey, Spidey, and I ventured out.  Many houses were decorated so we knew who was ready and who was not.  The very first house we went to, Princess walked in when the lady opened the door.  Walking down the street, my son bonked his head on someone’s mailbox.  (He’s okay!)  Both kids ended up taking trips down people’s front steps that seemed unusually high.  Candy buckets dropped and spilled their contents all over sidewalks.  One house went all out with decorations and the kids were scared to go to the door until Daddy went with them and rang the bell.  Princess Spidey sang most of the time.  Most folks were nice.  The neighborhood was quiet, so with the wind howling and the leaves skittering all over the place, it still had a Halloween feel to it even though it was broad daylight.  The nice thing is, since they had it this past weekend, there’s no rush to hurry home from work on Friday in time to take the kids out.  You don’t have to carry a flashlight, and there’s no rush hour traffic to deal with.  It was much more relaxing in a lot of ways than past Halloweens.  The most important thing, the kids had a blast and got tons of candy.  My son’s candy will probably sit in his Halloween bucket until Easter when I find it and toss it out.  My daughter’s will probably be gone by the time my husband gets home from work tomorrow.

And at least I got her into the princess costume long enough to take a picture.  😀

Brought to you by the letter A

Stealing another meme from WIGSF.  :)  This one is pretty simple.  Leave a comment and get a letter assigned to you.  You then must come up with 10 things you love that begin with that letter.  I was given the letter A.  Ready?  Good, because I’m not!  I’m having a hard time thinking of things I love in general, let alone things that begin with A!  But I’ll give it my best shot.

  1. Autumn!  One of my favorite seasons.  I can never decide between it and Spring.
  2. April.  I always thought April would be a wonderful month to get married in.  No, I never did, but I still think it would be awesome.
  3. Awesome!  I say this way too much, I know, but I can’t seem to stop.
  4. Alyssum.  One of the sweetest smelling flowers.  Sniffing this stuff gets me high.  😀
  5. Air Conditioning!  I’d be so lost without this!  I don’t do hot well at all.  Which reminds me of another thing I love …
  6. Air!  I swear, I really do love this stuff.  In fact, I think I’d die without it, that’s how much I love it.  😉
  7. Acts.  One of the coolest books in the Bible.
  8. Aerosmith!  You knew this one was coming!
  9. Apple Pie.  Not too fond of regular apples, but bake them in a pie and I love them.
  10. America!!  Why did this not occur to me first?!  As patriotic as I am, you’d think I’d have been all over that one!  Oh well, I’m a dork.  But at least I’m an American dork!

Whew!  I made it!  And I didn’t have to resort to my blood type either.  ;)

Calling my bookie …

A different wavelength!  Oh yeah, I’m way out there!  And I’m not overly critical at all!  In fact, I’m not critical enough.  Harumph.  Somebody needs to dust this place.

Your Expression Number is 7
Very intelligent, you are usually thinking, introspecting, or analyzing.
You have a good mind, and you are especially good at finding out the truth.
Very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding.

You tend to obsess over wisdom and hidden truths.
You are likely to become a authority on any subject you undertake.
Operating on a different wavelength, most people don’t know you that well.

Very logical and rational, at times you tend to lack emotion.
So much so, that you often have times coping with emotional situations.
You are not very adaptable – you may tend to be overly critical at times.
