Friday Funnies

Police Emergency

One night, as a tired husband was going to bed his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the shed. He opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things.

He immediately phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and George said no and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available.

George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don’t have to worry about them now because I’ve just shot them all."

Then he hung up. Within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you’d shot them!"

George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Not sure why, but the Internet seems to hate me this week.  Plays just fine with Darc, but whenever I sit down, it leaves.  *pout*  Or, it’ll say it’s connected, but when I click on a page it just sits there “loading” for ages, mocking me.  One evening, Darc came in to sit next to me while I tried to get through my Reader and everything was working fine, so we laughed and he left the room.  As soon as he did, the connection died.  Stupid Internet is acting like it’s his pet instead of mine this week.  And we all know who’s the greater Internet addict around here!  So I cry foul.  Hmph.

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  You just might find me at my local library trying to score a fix.  😉

(crossing fingers hoping this will sneak through and post)

Thursday Thankfulness

imageWhat does this picture have to do with thankfulness, you ask?  Well, I’ll tell you!

Tin foil!

That’s right, tin foil.

Every week I try to find something to be grateful for.  Something ordinary around the house that typically escapes notice because it’s become so mundane.  Kitteh here reminded me that tin foil – or aluminum foil, whatever, tin is easier to type – is just such an item.

When I was a little girl, I loved foil.  I used to make “mod” clothes for my Barbie dolls.  Of course, they couldn’t move around much but they looked cool.  My friend down the street was impressed by my creativity.  :D

When I became a homemaker, foil took on whole new qualities.  Useful for cooking, keeping splatters down in the oven, keeping the oven floor clean, cooking things on a grill, and even helping with minimizing dishwashing by lining pans.

I don’t know when foil was invented, but it sure didn’t take long for it to become one of those kitchen necessities.  I know I use it probably every week for one thing or another.  It’s one of those things I reach for often, and no kitchen is really complete without it.

It’s also great for hats.  😉

Full Moon

imageHeh, it seemed appropriate to use this picture, since it’s a full moon tonight.  I’m pretty sure I saw this with a different caption too, one that said, “I can get it, if I want.”  Which I can, you know!  Whichever caption you choose, I love the picture.  It touches something inside, and isn’t that silly for a LOLCats?  But I love the solitary kitteh under the moon, just thinking.  Reminds me of me.  :)

We went to grab a few things at the store today, which reminds me that I am really angry with Walmart for cancelling the contract they had with Perdue Chicken and going with Tyson instead.  I don’t like Tyson and I want my Perdue back!  There.  I have blogged about it and I feel better.  What good is a blog if you can’t use it to voice an opinion or register a complaint?  ;)

But seriously Walmart, bring back Perdue.  It’s better quality at a better price.

Do you ever feel like something big is just around the corner?  That your life is going to change in a major way in the not too distant future?  I feel like that.

I’m going to go stare at the moon for awhile, think about things I’m grateful for, maybe make a wish or two.  Anyone care to join me?  I can make some room on the antenna.  😀

Tuesday Tootsies

I think I’m gonna get me a pair of these and wear ‘em to an NRA meeting.  :D  Heh, you think I’m joking!

Sorry I don’t have more for you today.  Our connection is all kinds of wonky and I can’t get online to look for more pictures.  Lucky me, I happened to have this one in my drafts folder.

As always, click the pic for links.  🙂

Monday Mayhem

imageI hate it when we can’t get online.  Our connection was pretty much nil over most of the weekend.  I suppose it was just as well because we had to go through the proofs for Darc’s book.  That sounds so cool!  The proofs for his book.  Heheheh, I just had to say it again.  :D  Fortunately, there weren’t a lot of things to address, but we did have to go over the entire book with a fine tooth comb, and it was fun to see how it will look in print.  I caught a few things the typesetter needed to correct, Darc caught a few things, and now it’s just a matter of getting the corrections back to the editor.  This is the fun part.  To me anyway.  :)

My daughter has fallen in love with this animated movie called The Ant Bully.  It came out a few years ago but I never heard of it until I spied it at the library a couple of months ago.  It had a big name cast – like Nicolas Cage, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, and it was produced by Tom Hanks.  It seems like whoever was handling advertising just dropped the ball I guess.  Anyway, we got it for my bug loving baby and she fell in love.  I found in on the $5 shelf at Walmart a few weeks ago so of course I grabbed it for her.  She watches it almost every day it seems.  Remember how people got at Rocky Horror shows?  They’d dress up like their favorite characters and all recite the lines along with the movie?  That’s how MiniNess is.  She gets up and mimics the moves of all the characters – especially the ant queen, go figure – and recites all the lines verbatim.  At this point, she’s more entertaining than the actual movie, and we’ve all started saying some of the lines.  It’s a cute movie, and if you get a chance to see it, take advantage of it.  You won’t be sorry.  Think of all the fun you’ll have mocking Nicolas Cage afterwards!  “If that’s … okay.”  ;)  Oh c’mon!  Anyone who names their kid Kal-El is mockable!

Other than that, we just watched the rain.

And how was your weekend?
