Thursday Thankfulness

I’ve told you how yucky the water is here, right?  I mean, it’s like gag-me yucky.  So, a few years ago, we picked up one of those water filter pitcher things.  Not that Darc would drink water, but I enjoy it sometimes, and we like to make flavored drinks for the kids.  Now, I like to add ice from the ice maker to it when I’m “making water.”  It helps keep ice from accumulating in the freezer and makes the filtered water nice and chilly.

And as I stood there for a moment, watching the water trickle down – because there is something almost hypnotic about that – I realized how glad I am that we have an ice maker in our freezer.  I’ve lived in apartments for a good portion of my life, and having an ice maker in the freezer of a rented place is a 1st for me.  Usually you just get the 2 plastic trays, if you’re lucky.  Most often you have to buy your own.  So not having to deal with those ice cube trays is something I’m grateful for.  image

One day maybe I’ll get to have a refrigerator that has the water – ice dispenser thingy in the door.  That would rock.  In the meantime, I’m glad for what I have.  It’s one of those things you never really think about, but you’d miss it if it was gone.

So, do you have something you’re grateful for this week?

Where does the ice-maker get it’s water from? That’s just tap water too. The key is to put the water filter on the intake into the home.

Oh I agree, but since it’s not our place, we don’t have that option.

(In my opinion, the best water to get is a water delivery service with those big blue jugs. Of course, that costs money, but I think it’s worth it.)

That is the best! I had that several years ago and it was wonderful to have fresh clean water delivered every week.

  2. I’m grateful for having found out I don’t have the dreaded Ca…. Only 20 percent of people get a cyst on a sinus, fewer still on the one I had on a small, off the beaten track sinus near the brain. Since my father and his sister BOTH died of brain tumors, I rented Bette Davis in “Dark Victory” and contemplated my dramatic end. I am a drama queen when I’m not trying to be silly. I would have been on the stage but, well, I don’t like theatre people. Unreal. I’m real. I’m the Meryl Streep of commonality. AND I can speak in any accent. I’m good at that. Want to hear my French Canadian, der?

“I’m the Meryl Streep of commonality.”

Now THAT is an outstanding feat!

Glad everything checks out health-wise. Can’t be too careful with that!

An ice maker on the fridge would be lovely. I love to have a couple ice cubes in my water.

What am I thankful for today? Honestly… I can’t think of a thing, which really sucks.

No word on what was causing you to feel so sick? Are you still feeling under the weather?

No… The doctor is a tool. Makes me want to back hand him, he’s pretty damn old-school, and not really willing to listen.

Uh-oh, that doesn’t sound good at all. No clue yet on what’s wrong? Did he give you no help at all?

  4. I’d love to have an ice maker. One fridge I owned had one, but it wasn’t hooked up. This fridge has a place where one could go, if we hadn’t been so cheap. It mocks me.

Today I’m grateful for my unfailingly vivid dreams. They provide a lot of entertainment.

Oooh, vivid dreams! Those are always awesome! I love the lucid ones, but I’ve only had that happen a couple of times and not in years. Still, I love the movie ones. 😀

    • Oh, my. Stephen, let me saddle up my horse and hit the trail for Texas. We’re good company. I told WHATIGOTSOFAR that I’m so old my friends call me Fliver because like an old Ford, it’s just so hard to get me started – unless it’s talking!

  6. I’m grateful that my partner has found some support with his problems, outside of our relationship. I’m glad I can help him but I was getting crushed, trying to cope with everything. I have enough things of my own to deal with.

Having a good support network, both within and outside of a relationship is always a good thing. 🙂 I’m glad you’ve found what you needed.

  7. Our water is wretched…as in have a glass, get stomach cramps and crap your pants. I usually buy gallons of water at Walmart. It really stinks having to haul water all the time.

Ugh, ours too! At least with the pitcher, I don’t have to do any hauling.
