Thursday Thankfulness

imageI saw the pack for a buck 50 on the impulse shelf by the checkout.  I grabbed it and threw it on the belt and my husband said, “What are those for?”
”It’s a rite of childhood” I replied.
“Is it now?  Well I never had silly straws when I was a kid …”

I let that one pass.  😉

Needless to say, the kids were thrilled.  It’s amazing how happy something so small can make them.  Silly straws are fun – the colors, the shapes, I don’t know what it is but kids see them and want them.

So do some grown-ups.  😉

It’s little, but it’s fun and it made my kids happy, so I’m thankful.  😀

Do you have a thankful this week?

  1. The straws are fun but calling it a “rite of childhood” seems to be over-selling it.

I see someone else didn’t get any silly straws when they were a child either. 😉

*poke poke* I was yanking his chain. 😀

  2. As usual I am thankful for family and friends. That is my Thursday mantra. I am grateful and thankful that you ask each week so I may stop complaining and be a little honest about the bright spots that ARE there.

You have made my day. Thank you! 😀

I didn’t have neat straws in my childhood – just those glass birds that sat on the edge of a glass of water and bobbed up and down into it as if drinking.

    I remember those!

Then there were the magic crystals you threw into a glass of water and magic kingdoms arose.

Ooh, my favorites were the hot pink ones! Loved those when I was a kid. 🙂

Then you could always pick your nose – sorry,

Uh … you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose. 😉

hehe twisty straws are seriously necessary for children (and adults!) My brother (22) only recently gave in to not drinking all cold beverages without a straw, to the point I found a clearance bin of multi-coloured straws for .50c a pack for 200 – I bought 10 packages and keep them in the cupboard for when he would come to visit, and like to I use them for my smoothies 🙂

I remember when we were little we had red translucent ones that had Mickey Mouse on them, and blue Batman ones… oh they were amazing. How I miss them.

Oh Batman and Mickey Mouse straws! I’m so jealous! LOL
