It’s not the TV I object to – I love TV. It’s the enormously high cable bills I’m no longer willing to pay. Count me among those finding alternative forms of entertainment. |

PlayStation Network users beware! I know they were down for something like 10 days. Heh, it was probably cable hackers getting even for those of us finding alternative forms of entertainment. |

As a Patriots fan, I just thought this was fun. Doug’s daughter is the real “Flutie Cutie” although dad is still a contender. |

Yep, Mother’s Day is this weekend! This is a funny list of the kind of gifts not to buy for that special mom you might know. |
Also this weekend, the Kentucky Derby! Yay, horses, racing, mint juleps, woo!
I bought a Roku player ($60) and I spend more time watching TV than ever before. I have subscriptions to Netflix ($10) and Hulu Plus ($9). The Roku comes with tons of channels (news, weather, sports, music, movies) some for free, some not. So for less than $20 a month, I can watch pretty much anything I want, usually commercial free.
Ack! We have an Aaron’s. I never trust rent to own companies. You pay twice as much than if you just bought it outright.
I’ve never heard of Roku. I’ll have to check it out. Maybe! LOL I’ve been working on that TV addiction thing, don’t want to re-addict myself. I did see an ad for something called Vudu earlier tonight when we were looking at computer stuff. Now that looked tempting! Evil Vudu! LOL
Rent-to-own is just another way to say, “Please rip me off.” Yuck.

I think Vudu is a program, not a player. I was looking at blue ray players and saw you could install Vudu on the player and have access to tons of channels. Of course, there was no mention of price for installation.
Right you are! I just did a minimal amount of research and found that Vudu is a streaming service like Netflix, but is “on-demand.”
The Roku player I have is about the size of a bag of Ramen noodles. It’s completely portable so I take it with me when I travel. If there’s internet access, it works. It is about the best thing I’ve ever purchased.
I am going to check that out. It sounds cool, and I love gadgets. 🙂
