Breakdown

imageMeet the new oven.  Same as the old oven.

Well, we’ve been hankering for a new one for a while now.  I’ve had maintenance out 3 or 4 times, because we could smell gas.  The oven would take forever to light, and then when it did, it would come on with a whoosh and a bang and even the oven door would pop open a bit with the force of it.  Dane called management this weekend and complained and told them he wanted a new stove.

It’s been a crazy month it seems, with so many things breaking down all of a sudden.  But the way I look at it, for all the years we’ve been here, we’ve never had problems.  Everything has always worked just fine.  Things break down eventually though, and now seems to be our time.  It happens.

But there won’t be a new oven for us.  I talked to the new manager this afternoon and she told me flat out there simply wasn’t enough in the budget for a new one, and the best she could offer me was to bring in a refurbished one.

At least it’s clean and I know it’s in working order, just as it would be for a new tenant.

So, I’m good.  No more icky gas smell, no more exploding oven ignitions.  It’s all good.

And how was your weekend?

Haha! Also best friend to the mom who will reheat 2 day old coffee just to be sure to not waste a drop! 😉

  2. I just popped over from Spark’s blog. Sounds like the old oven was dangerous! Hope the new one works okay.

Hey Joe! How nice to see you here! 🙂

The new oven seems to be working well – now I justst need to figure out new cooking times since it actually cooks at the right temperature, lol. 🙂
