Monday

First day back in school!  The kids seem to have bounced in just fine, but mom had some trouble sleeping last night so I am a bit on the woozy side.  But we marshal on!

They say that when you’re in Chicagoland, if you don’t like the weather, just wait 10 minutes and it’ll change for you.  I offer as proof:

This morning.  Not quite sunrise – I forgot! – but maybe around 9ish.  Rain, strong winds, gray.

A few hours later, the sun was pushing through.  It was a nice effect, shining down on just the flagpole.  Now most evidence of this morning’s storms is gone and we have temps in the mid 50s.  The kids are done with school and going outside to play.  It’s a great start to the new school quarter.  Yay!

Thursday

School starts next week and I’m still putting together the kid’s assignment cards.  Part of me likes the tedium of filling out little forms, as it were, and part of me finds it … tedious. 

And I just realized I haven’t lined up my Friday Funnies!  Better get to it!  Laughs are important.  🙂

It sure was pretty here today!  We even got into the 50s!  This is midday 04-04-2013.

And due to an unfortunate camera folder failure (Shut up!  Quit saying “operator failure!”) I don’t have a snapshot of 03-29-2013, but I DO have the weather report, and as you can see, it was a beautiful day.  🙂

 

Easter Sunday, the last day of March was definitely gorgeous, and on the warm side too, so that was awesome.  I’d say it clearly ended “like a lamb,” thereby showing once again, that sometimes those old wives tales have merit.  😉

Tuesday

Well, I’ve got one blog disconnected from this one!  There’s a few more to do but bit by bit I’ll whittle them down, then I’ll switch names.  It’s been sort of a “perfect storm” of sorts that’s caused it to happen, but it’s not a bad thing, just a tedious thing. 

Today was so pretty, even the robins came out to play!

Midday 04-02-2013  I can’t believe it’s April already!  Almost time to get my garden stuff!  I’m so excited to be able to do that this year!

Soap!

LOOK at my bounty!  Isn’t it awesome?!  My girlfriend came up for a visit and brought me tons of homemade soap.  I am one happy camper!  All kinds of colors and fragrances, I’m like a kid in a candy store.  🙂

Now I just have to get off my butt and read the book she gave me, so I can make some too, and maybe we could even start a business together. 

If I made soap, would you buy it?  Inquiring minds would like to know.  🙂

Thursday

I’ve been feeling so frantic lately, and it’s all Google’s fault.  They’re doing away with Reader and I’ve been trying to find a new one to replace it, which means exploring tons of options.  Okay, maybe not tons, but at least a couple dozen – same thing!  Each feed reader comes with its own quirks and learning curve and all that stuff, and I feel like I have to dothisrightnow!  I know Google said we have until July 1st, but that’ll be here sooner than I think so I have to get started NOW.  *sigh*

I figured I’d do a bunch of posts on my findings in a week or 2.  :)  Hey, you have to take the blog fodder where you find it!

So are you ready for Easter? 

I love Easter.  Yes, because it’s the most awesome of days in terms of being a Christian, but also for a more personal reason.  My grandmother, God rest her soul, was born on Easter Sunday, so she was given Easter as a middle name.  Her friends called her that though.  I always thought it was cool to be Easter’s granddaughter.  It has a nice ring to it.  :)  It made me feel connected to the holiday in a way that went beyond it being simply a holiday.  I am here because of Easter, both spiritually AND physically.  😀

Wednesday

It’s not easy to see in the picture there, but I found some garland that, when wrapped around itself, resembles a crown of thorns.  How perfect for an Easter tree?  :) 

The centerpiece is pretty simple, since I need to go shopping and pick up some stuff, but that’s not likely to happen before Easter.  Guess I’ll just have to stock up for next year when I do make it to the store!  The kids loved the jelly beans around the candle.  I had to make sure and get a bag just for them, too.

The sun was kind of out.  Pretty diffused though, and overcast.  Still, it was close to 40 again so that’s a welcome change.
