It’s New Year’s Eve this weekend! Do you have any plans? Doing anything special? I will be doing my customary hiding behind the couch until the madness is over, but if I was going to a party or something, I might just dress up.
First, I’d get my pretty pearly bracelet.
Then I’d get my pretty pearly shoes.
Then, I’d get all decked out in my sparkly dress.
It’s party time! Anyone for champagne?
Have a great New Year’s, no matter what you do!
It’s no secret that I love me some sparkle. Shiny things are known to distract me. But I have to say, both of these shoe specimens are a bit overdone, even for me, believe it or not!
I think either the golden glitter or the jewels, but not both.
Love the Christmas spirit with the pine boughs but the spikes, mmmnot so much.
They are kind of eye catching though, in a golden glittery kind of way, lol.
I love these! All glittery and sparkly for the beginning of the Christmas season. Wouldn’t these be great to wear to a Christmas party? Or a New Year’s party?
Plus, you could wear them with pretty much anything. They make me feel all festive.
Aren’t these awesome? They reminded me of a modern day lady version of the Greek god Hermes’ shoes. Apparently they’re put out by Victoria’s Secret but I don’t know if they’re available for any goddess-aspiring woman to buy or if they’re only for the Victoria’s Secret Angels runway models. Either way, I love the sparkle and I love the wings. Certainly something a Mrs Batman could wear! I could definitely go places in these.
So, I picked these for this week solely (pun intended! ) because they go along with our family Thanksgiving theme for this year.
See, Darc and I decided a few years ago that we didn’t much enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving food that’s typically enjoyed. Personally, I don’t really like turkey and it’s hard to find one that suits our family size. What the heck am I going to do with a 20 lb bird? Sheesh, it’d rot before we could eat it.
We thought it would be nice to choose different foods and have that be our personal family tradition; foods we love but don’t get to have very often. That year we were lucky enough to indulge in some surf and turf. Mmmm!
This year we chose a different theme and this shoe represents it.
It’s going to be fun! And I can’t wait.
What about you? Have you inserted your own family traditions into the holiday?
I actually found these over at iOwnTheWorld. I love the “little bit of everything” aspect. Sort of like a buffet, like Thanksgiving coming up. These are mostly fun shoes, but they’re clever, and slightly wacky and appeal to my sense of humor. I think my favorite are the chocolate sauce pair. Although, the chewing gum ones are pretty neat too, lol.
Speaking of chocolate, I found this interesting post: Benefits Of Chocolate Milk After Your Workout. Loving chocolate milk as much as I do, I was intrigued, to say the least. However, I did give it up a few years ago so I’m not sure I’m ready to jump back in. But it sure is fun to think about!
I posted a picture of my son’s solar system birthday cake over on my recipes blog, ( Birthday Cake ) if you wanted to see how it turned out.
Now it’s back to the grind for us! But the day off sure was fun and sugar filled! And had cake and ice cream too.
How was your day?
All my life I have loved rainbows. Pastel ones, not so much the primary ones. When I was a very little girl, I saw the wedding pictures of an uncle and his wife, one of my favorite aunts. Each of her bridesmaids wore a different color of the rainbow and they looked so amazingly beautiful to me that I decided then and there that I wanted the same thing when I got married.
So, okay, maybe for an anniversary I’ll have my rainbow.
Anyway, every year around our anniversary I start thinking of that fantasy wedding I’ve had since I was like 4. It might go something like this:
I’ll do my hair like a rainbow.
And carry rainbow flowers!
I’ll wear rainbow shoes. Must have sparkle!
And wear a frothy rainbow dress, like this.
Or maybe satiny, like this.
I’ll have a rainbow cake, outside,
I’ll have attendants wear all the colors of the rainbow, like these lovely ladies here.
But I draw the line at rainbow lipstick!
Happy November 1st!
