WooHoo Wednesday

Thanks yet again to WIGSF for giving me blog ideas.  😀

I have a woohoo for today, a big one!

The books came in!  The real like hold-in-your-hands books that the publisher sent us.  So they are out for sale now in the UK, and we got a few gift copies.  Is that awesome or what?  I’m pretty sure Darc already posted on it today so you can stop by and read his blog about it if you want, but I’m pretty excited too.

My son was reading through the dedication page, and when he read, “to my wife” he yelled, “That’s YOU mom!  That’s YOU!”  He was so cute.  :)  He was proudly showing off daddy’s book to his little sister – “Look, here’s daddy’s name on the cover, and inside he wrote about mommy, and look at these pictures!  Remember helping daddy choose pictures?  This is what it was for!”  I tell ya, it was infectious, LOL.

Darc made fun of me when I told him I wanted my copy autographed.  *pout*  I thought something in his handwriting would be uber-cool.

So that’s my woohoo for the day – what about you?  Do you have one?

Tuesday Tootsies

As some of you already know, I got my idea for Tuesday Tootsies from Seraphic Secret.  He does a Friday Footwear edition, and sometimes includes shoes from old movie actresses.  He’s a screenwriter, in case you were unaware.  :)  Anyway, I got this picture some time ago, and I’ve been hanging on to it ever since, waiting just for this day.  You remember Independence Day is my favorite holiday, so you know I’ve been waiting for this like, forever.  ;)  So without further ado, the Patriotic Edition of Tuesday Tootsies.  🙂

This shoe is so awesome I can’t even begin to describe it.  It’s got the sexy heel, it’s got the red-white-and blue waving flag thing happening, with the eagle on front.  It’s got the open toe summer feel going on.  I love, love, love these shoes!  And here’s where I got them: Seraphic Secret: Friday Footwear.

Oh the sparkle!  I adore the sparkle!

So may shoes, so little time!  I’d have to go to a ton of events to be able to wear all of these.

For your retro 70’s 4th of July party.  Or your Wonder Woman costume.  ;)  Oh my gosh, I’d have way too much fun with these!  LOL

These are for your disco party, complete with flashing lights.  At least you’ll always be able to see where you’re going.

Here we go – authentic 40’s vintage shoes.  I can just imagine some lady wearing these after the war, celebrating the 1st war-free Independence Day of the 40’s, can’t you?

For the little ones in your life.  🙂

Going to the beach to watch fireworks by the shore?  Here are some flip-flops for you.  🙂image

For those types who absolutely have to co-ordinate everything, here’s something for you.  A complete outfit!  Including contacts!

Celebrate the day in style, and don’t forget your feet – they appreciate independence too.  😉

Monday Meme

I thought I’d do something a little different today, and play with a meme I stole from WIGSF a couple of weeks ago.   See how awesome the drafts folder is in Windows Live Writer?  Blog fodder at your fingertips.  :D

Using Somebody Else’s Meme

George Bush. Lindsay Lohan. Dick Cheney. You have to sleep with one, marry one and kill one.
Easy.  I’d marry George, he’s already shown he has good taste in women.  I’d sleep with Dick.  Just sayin’.  Heheheh.  ;)  And I’d kill Lindsay.  Her life is already wasted anyway.

Would you prefer a comfortable relationship that was passionless or a torrid affair that’s riddled with angst and uncertainty?
Oh I am SO not about the drama.

What is your drink of choice?
Coffee, and Pepsi.

Would you rather work an interesting job that was low-paying and be under constant financial duress, or have a comfortable lifestyle with a job that wasn’t very satisfying (but not a nightmare)?
Comfort over duress ANY day.  Preferably EVERY day.  :)

You are boarding a plane tomorrow morning. Where are you going?
Clearly I’d be going to my funeral because you’d only get me on a plane over my dead body now.

What was the last piece of music you purchased?
Hmm.  That’s been a while.  Maybe Daughtry?

If a book isn’t working for you, do you hang on hoping for redemption or bail out?
I used to hang on.  Now I tend to bail.  Maybe it’s a time thing, I have less of it now.

Is it easy for you to admit when you’re wrong? Let’s be honest here.
Wrong?  What’s that?  I’ve never had personal experience with that.  Apparently it’s something you’re quite familiar with though.

Do you think fame is a useful tool or more trouble than it’s worth? If it came knocking on your door, would you open it?
I have no interest in knowing fame.  If it came knocking, I would not open the door.

Fill in the blank. I wish my parents had not __________.
Hahahaha!  Gotten married!

If your life was a romantic comedy, where would it be set?
Ha!  Fargo.

Standing up or lying down? Context – subjective.
Lying down.

Which Star Trek era would you live in – provided that Star Trek was real and time travel was real and … you know … it was a geeky thing to contemplate even in the abstraction of a meme? Prequel? Original? or Next Generation?
Kirk and Spock.  Spock is my hero.

Shower or bath?
Oh a bath, definitely!  With candlelight and maybe a glass of champagne.  🙂

Current event that most affects your actual life?
Sheesh.  Political crap.

Celebrity crush? (celebrity being relative)
Well …
my husband is a published writer.  Does that count?

Do you read the novel or wait for the film version?
I just read and watch what I like.

Bottled water or tap?
Dasani.  Tap water here is awful.

How prepared are you for the next Armageddon (keeping in mind that “the end of the world” is also relative and subjective in our modern times)?
The “next” Armageddon?  When was the last one?  Here’s a fact – no one is ever prepared for Armageddon.  People like to think they are, but never having experienced it, they have no idea what to expect and therefore no idea how to prepare.

If you could claim citizenship anywhere on the planet, where would it be and why?
I am an American.  I would never want to be anything else, because this is the greatest country in the world.  🙂

Shh!!!

One thing’s for sure – Darc and I never “Shh” when we watch a movie.  We’re critiquing it all the way through.

Friday Funnies

How to clean the house –

1.  Open a new file in your PC..

2.  Name it ‘Housework.’

3.  Send it to the ‘recycle bin.’

4.  Now empty the ‘recycle bin.’

5.  Your
PC will ask you;

Are you sure you want to delete housework permanently?’
6.  Calmly answer; ‘Yes’ and press mouse button firmly…

7.  Feel better?

Works for me!

From my friend, Mind of A Mom.  Thanks MoM!  😀

Thursday Thankfulness

image “So … what’s with all the peaches?” asked Darc.
”Huh?  What do you mean?”
”Once a year or so you go through this peach thing where you buy a bunch of canned peaches.”
”I do?  Hmm.  I never noticed.  I don’t know why.”
”And why don’t—“
”Because I hate the fuzzy.”
”How did—“
”It’s what I do.”

That is pretty much a conversation that Darc and I had at the grocery store last week.  I don’t know what’s up with the peach thing, but he’s right, I do seem to go through this peachy phase every so often.  So I figured I must be pretty thankful for them.  :)  I mean think about it, how lucky are we that we can just walk into a store and get fruit?  That’s pretty awesome.  I remember reading how fruit was such a rare treat, like in the Little House books, Laura Ingalls relates an incident where she went to a party and everyone got an orange.  She was so thrilled that she took the entire thing home and gave each of her family members a wedge of it, because it was so special.  And I can walk into a store and see bags of fresh ones, and cans by the yard on the shelves.  Not to mention frozen fruits.  Juices too.  I’m pretty lucky.  Had I lived 150 years ago, I might only know of peaches from books.  Now I can have some in only the time it takes to get to the grocery store.  :)  Peachy keen!  😀

What are you thankful for this week?image
